Legislator salutes business women
House Resolution 933, designating the week of Oct. 20 – 24, 2008 as “National Business Women’s Week in Pennsylvania” has received a unanimous vote, said Rep. Bob Mensch (R-Montgomery).“This is a great way to pay tribute to the positive influence that business women have on our economy and in our overall world,” said Mensch. “Working women constitute 66 million of our nation’s work force; and women-owned businesses account for 28 percent of all United States businesses.”
The House resolution continues a trend started in 1928, when then-President Herbert Hoover made the first declaration of National Business Women’s Week. Over the years, various women’s business groups have been spotlighting the achievements and contributions of working women.
Mensch supports the continuing effort to promote equality for all women, and to help create better conditions for working women through the study of social, educational, economic and political issues.
